Fuel pressure drops and engine cuts out. Need help!
I have a 97 Jeep Cherokee with 4.0. I have had an issue with the engine cutting out more whenever its cold. Today i checked the fuel pressure and at idle it sits at around 45-46. When the engine cuts out it will drop anywhere from 2-6 psi. Any ideas on what the cause of this is? Possible bad relay? Fuel pump going out?
Thanks
Thanks
If it only drops 2-6 psi, the engine should still run fine.
I would say that you have a different issue somewhere else.
If the engine cuts out first, then the fuel pressure drops, more than likely the fuel pump relay is shut off when the computer senses the engine is no longer running.....
If the fuel pressure drops 2-6 psi, then the engine cuts out, they are most likely being cut together by the computer not receiving the proper signal from somewhere.
Does the check-engine light come on at all?
Any stored trouble codes?

How would i monitor the voltage to the pump?
Firehawk- I can drive it still, it cuts out and jerks pretty good sometimes though. it seems to slowly be getting worse. It seemed like once it warmed up it got a little better but i haven't drove it much lately so not sure if it is still doing that.
It seems like it cuts out and drops at the same time. Maybe just not enough of a difference to tell.

There is the video. It wasn't working very good on my computer so hopefully it does for everyone else.

So good news. I solved the issue. After checking fuel pump wires I decided to just try returning the new tps under warranty. I had bought the cheap one from the part store. Decided to upgrade and got the better one for $7 extra. Put it in and good as new. I also had a slight shifting issue and that see@ to have been the cause of that too.

Glad you sorted it out.
I watched the video you posted, and definitely didn't look like a fuel pump issue.........More like an electrical glitch that was causing a stumble.....
