Hi,

my 87 XJ wagoneer takes long to start. (5 sec approx. )
new battery, new starter motor, new fuel pump.
It cranks very well and fast.

- I suspect fuel goes back to the fuel tank as the guy who installed the pump said it was painful and he had to somewhat modify it
- It could also be leaking fuel injectors, but I don’t think so.

I wonder if some of you use a one way check valve like this one and where they did install it.

is there any drawback in installing it ?

thanks

5 seconds is not out of the norm for a Jeep with Renix fuel injection.

If you're suspicious of it being fuel pressure bleed down, try this.
Turn the key to ON. Let the system prime. Key to OFF. Now turn to ON again. Wait 5 to 10 seconds and go to the START position. Crank time much shorter?
