Exclamation Fuel Line Issue

Yesterday evening I replaced my fuel pump and strainer. All went well with no issues and sealed the tank back up. Following the replacement of the fuel pump I was able to start the vehicle after a couple tries, figured this was good and normal.

This morning getting ready to leave for work and persistently through out the day it has taken up to 10 min of off and on cranking to get her to start.

I'm out of ideas on what to do or what it could be, When she does start I can barely hear the new pump hum but it is working.

Please help, the jeep does run been driving her all day, but it turns into a battle to get her started after sitting. Any ideas advice or things to check?

Caveat: I replaced fuel pump as preventative maintenance, I could hear it going bad. Prior to this though all worked well and she was starting on the first crank.

Just check, yes fuel pump is priming for a second on two with the key in the on position. After cranking for a while it does build pressure , don't know if maybe it's air in the line? Did look at my fuel gauge and its holding at the level of fuel it's at evenin off position.

The rear hose did look rough when I changed the pump, have another one I'm goi g to put on this evening, just waiting to see if it going to rain or not.

What else should I check?

Seems like it might not be holding pressure, idk I'm at a loss.

If it is air in the line how would I bleed it?

Carter Fuel Pump and Strainer, (heard good things), don't know what pressure is holding at, when I got home and pressed the bleeder valve after sitting, there was no pressure.

Strainer was fairly clean, no major rust tains on it, haven't replaced fuel filter going to tonight with new tank to filter line.

I have read that the fuel rail should be holding pressure even when off, what could be the culprit for it not holding keeping pressure?

Check valves supposed to hold pressure not rail it just holds fuel for injector supply.

Check, well ill be replacing the rear line from tank to filter and filter tonight. Rear line is deteriorating could be the cause why no fuel/pressure is being held at all un in the fuel rail due to small pin holes or something, ill let you know how it goes, might be back to the drawing board if it doesn't fix the problem

Replaced Fuel line and filter, didn't fix my problem. Ended up pulling pump assembly back out, the hose segment from carter that goes from the pump to the regulator ended up splitting. Had some left over hose from replacing the fuel line and put a new segment in there. Let everything prime up and get fuel back to the rails, fired on the first crank every time for three times in a row. Problem fixed.

Thank you freegdr for helping me trouble shoot some.
