I have a cylinder 1 misfire on my 99 4.0 and have came to solution that I need a new harness, but where do I get one? I can’t find one online anywhere. Would it be better/easier to try and fix it or keep trying to find one. I also heard that it has it be the exact year and it has to be from an xj. Is this true?

 

FleaBay... Verify whether you have Federal or California emissions (pre-cats in the downpipe). There's one listing that indicates they're the same across multiple years...

 

Just the one FI? I had an intermittent #3 injector on mine. I simply split the loom open and replaced the FI connector and wires all the way back to the firewall. I cleaned up some nasty looking splices while I was in there.

If you need more, you can likely harvest the FI section of any 4.0l XJ from 91-2001. Bear in mind that the complete harness does change between the years with variations for transmission, accessories, emissions, etc. However, the section that runs to the fuel injectors are the same as far as the wiring size and color. Also note that the connectors to the FI changed in '97 so a '97+ would require less splicing.
