ok i have a 95 xj 4.0L auto 150k orginal miles one day the gas gauge just quit working it stayed buryed on empty well tryed switching clusters same thing messed with all the grounds checked all wireing fuses all good well got a jeep wreaked for parts took the sending unit outa the take it looked just like mine well plug it into the plug and move the float by hand up and down gauge still works put it in the tank and the gas hand stays buryed on full now still dont work i have tryed 3 or 4 other sending units same thing buryed on full or buryed on empty tryed swaping clusters 3 or 4 times same deal if but last cluster i swapped in the gas light came on and the gauge buryed on full ???

now i have what i call the dummy gauges in my jeep factory i have the big gas hand and speedo rest is the lil lights that come on when it runs hot etc not like the regular cluster with all the temp guage with needles and all could it haveing the differant gas hand have sumthing to do with the float assembly on the sending unit?

any help would be great ive been dealin with this for 6+ months gettin tired of carrying round a gas can the back for when i run out and a brand new sending unit is $155.00 tryin to avoid buying a new one moneys really tight right now doin good to keep gas in it for daily driveing
