hello everyone, i have a 98 cherokee classic and just noticed the fuel gauge is cutting in and out. sometimes it goes out for a minute then comes back on. when it comes back on it doesn't read the correct level it was before. could this be the sending unit going bad or bad ground wire? thanks for any help.
I had a similar problem that seemed to get resolved after running some Restore UCL & Injector Cleaner. The only thing I figured is the sending unit had some buildup on it or something.

If it has a brass float, it could be cracked and full of gas. I'm not sure what rhe float is made of in an XJ though.

hey thanks for all the info guys, I am gonna check it out as soon as my tank gets under a 1/4 tank. I also reviewed that the sending unit from 97 earlier are different then 98 later. the 98 and later you are able to replace parts individually, hopefully that is true.
