Default fuel filter location?

97 XJ 4.0. Is the fuel filter located inside of the gas tank?

THANKS....I was going to replace it till i couldn't find it...

Don't know about the 97 but on my 94 its right behind the rear drivers side tire

hey man....here you go...the filter is near the pump/regulator at top of tank....good luck!

The pump, regulator, sending unit and filter all all one unit, you have to drop the tank to get to it on a 97 because it's on the top. If the pump is working fine the filter is prob OK. They are made to last as long as the pump unlike the disposable inline type.
