Hello all, new to the forum here. I just picked up a 2000 Cherokee classic and it has the common fuel check valve issue where the fuel runs back down into the tank after sitting for awhile... I have to turn the ignition on and off a couple times to run the fuel back up into the rail before it will start... This Cherokee has 123k miles on it so should I put in an in-line check valve or just change out the fuel pump all together? I've got the cash to put in a new fuel pump but if I don't need to I'd rather not. Thanks in advance for any responses.

 

the check valve is in the fuel pump. have to replace the whole unit. just got one for a 98 at autozone for 120.00. the tank should be cleaned as well.

Any rad shop can clean it, they hook it up to a vat and it comes back looking brand new inside. Our shop sends it to a local rad shop and they do an amazing job.

 

Thanks. I'll call a rad shop in town and see what they charge. If not $120 ain't too bad... And I shouldnt have to worry about it going out in the near future...

 

If the autozone pump is an airtek do not buy it. They are junk.
