I am brand new to this forum and am a total car dummy, so please be tolerant of me. My question may have been covered at some point but this is overwhelming for me due to my lack of knowledge. I have a 2001 Cherokee that has been having an ongoing, consistent problem for a year 1/2. It has been trouble shooted and worked on by multiple mechanics of varying levels of expertise, had multiple parts replaced, but continues to have the issue. It stalls without warning at full running temperature, never when cold. After cooling down, it restarts. The only codes it has thrown are EVAP, cam/crankshaft sensors, and ignition coil pack, all of which have been addressed and repaired/replaced. The other replaced parts are PCM, fuel pump, fuel injectors, water pump, and battery. The problem is still not resolved. Same problem but time between breakdowns has varied from 1 day to 5 mo. It is currently not throwing any codes. Last break down was 3 mo ago, and now it will not start at all. The engine turns over and sounds normal, but it will not kick in. It has had some minor electrical quirks since I’ve had it ie turn signal issues (resolved), power window controls and locks don’t always work, and gas guage sometimes floats. One mechanic who worked on it, replaced the fuel pump but as I found out afterward, he got it from a junk yard. 2 other mechanics after checked it and said the pump was fine, but I am now skeptical. I am at a loss as to what else to look at. Can anyone offer some helpful feedback/ideas? Thanks so much!
The good news is that staying dead makes it easier to troubleshoot versus randomly dying and running fine when the mechanic looks at it. When it was stalling, did it cut out like you turned the key off or stumble and slowly die? If the first, I'd suspect the crank or cam sensor, more the crank if it's heat related. You said those have already been replaced, but beware the cheap aftermarket ones have a very high failure rate.market. Do you have fuel pressure? As a quick check, push the little valve and see if you get anything. If you do, borrow a fuel pressure tester from AutoZone and check the fuel pressure.
Checking for spark is a little harder with the coil rail.

Look down in the oil fill hole between the 3rd and 4th valve to see if one the number 0331 is stamped or raised there. If so shine a light there and see if you can see any cracks there. If so when it is hot it would open up and stall but when cold not do that. Just like when a head gasket goes. Generally it will shake a little too but not start until it cools. Also check your oil to see if there is coolent in the pan or oil in the top of your radiator.
On the surface I want to say the stalling when reaching operating temperature, and restarting after cooling down, are thermal failure of the Crankshaft Positioning Sensor.
My real question is what brand is the replacement? Aftermarket parts are hit or miss. Especially the CPS. Always best to use a Mopar one if possible.
As far as the locks and windows go a little more info of exactly what is wrong would help.
Could be wiring and/or switches.
