Went wheeling Sunday though a creek twice and some smaller mud/water holes, parked it until Tuesday am. 20 degrees this am and the 87 jeep would go move In reverse, put it In drive and it clunked and drove after that. Could I have gotten water in the axles and it froze or maybe just the rear drums rusted, did not have the e brake on

Change your fluids water does not belong in your axles
btw also check inside your rear drums you might be surprised by what you find... Water can get in there and rust things up to replace everything inside the drum is about 25 bucks for both sides rock auto maybe cheaper

so much can freeze solid if water got inside the diff, tubes and brakes.
pull the cover and see if you have a slushie going on in there.

I checked the rear diff before I went and it was full, I need to change both front and rear, was planning on a front lunch box locker and possibly switching to a rear end with disc brakes
