Front Wheel Bearings HELP!
What is the difference between the pre-'99.5 and the post -'99.5 wheel bearings?
What if you use the wrong one?
How do you tell which one you need? My old ones are tossed.
I have a '98 but it might have a post-99.5 front axle hence I ordered the wrong bearings. Now since the install the wheels bind on full lock to either side. Somehow the universals are binding up. It is like they are not in centerline with the steering knuckles. Can the wrong bearings do this?
I used the timken 513084 bearings and I wonder if I should have used the timken HA597479 bearings.

I've heard people talking of how they start to whine when they go bad. My general rule of thumb, if something isn't running noticeably improperly, no need to replace it. I think with wheel bearings, they just start to make noise. I've never had personal experience with them myself though. Somebody else will probably chime in though

I had a 2001 blazer zr2 that just loved to chew up wheel bearings. Trust me, you will know when they go bad. Anytime I got above 25mph, it would sound like I was driving with mud tires on the blazer. Very noticeable sound! Also depending on what side the bad bearing is on, the sound will go away when you turn releasing stress off of the bearing.
