Default Front suspension popping sound

I have a 94 4wd Automatic Cherokee. If I do a hard stop on pavement to a stop, when I accelerate again, there is a pop sound from the left tire area and then the right tire area. This sound can be heard everytime I stop hard and then accelerate again. This past weekend I was out 4 wheeling and when climbing a steep grade, the same sound could be heard, but it was nearly constant while on the gas. I have jacked up the front end and tried moving everything to see where there is play. The only thing I could see was that the end links are worn and have some play. Anybody know if worn end links might make a sound under those conditions, or what else might make a sound like that?

thanks
Sean
