Default front springs on a 96 XJ

I'm the third owner of a '96 XJ and my mechanic tells me he thinks my front springs are stiffer than OEM, although I'm thinking their original. I measured their diameter with calipers and I'm getting .525 in. Can someone who has OEM springs double check this for me?

Thanks

I just changed mine Saturday and that sounds right, I can measure
them later if needed. I have a set of new stock coils for sale
If you are interested.

Cool thanks 92. I've asked this question in a couple forums and nobodys responded yet, so if you have the time I'd appreciate a measure. I would guess '92 XJs would uses the same springs as my '96.

Thanks again!

Big thanks 92. Someone in a different forum suggested mine might be stiffer if I had the 'up-country OEM' springs. I'm assuming this is some sort of upgrade package. Do you know if yours is up-country?

Also, trying to find out if I can determine through my VIN # if my particular vehicle has the up-country package. I'm all ears.

You can email Chrysler & request a build sheet thru your VIN. I did that with mine & discovered all sorts of neat little details.

Use this link to contact Chrysler ad ask them to email you back a build sheet:

I believe that the Up-country suspension option had different leafs, and posibly different coils which gave the XJ a 1" lift. The build sheet will confirm if you have it. Do no confuse Up-country suspension option with Cheroke Country Edition XJ. I have a 1995 Country Edition XJ with standard suspension based on the built sheet that Chrysler sent me.
