Am working on a 2000 XJ and some time ago at the local JY I found a front skid on. a pre 97. From the best I can tell at the time it would fit my jeep no problem. I am in the middle of several "improvements" and the installation of this skid is one of them. My question is about the attachment of the front edge of the skid to the body. The parts catalogue shows a type of stud of which I am not familiar.
I understand the use of a stud here as there is no easy way to get a wrench n the head if you simply try to drop a bolt through the front body work but there is nothing to screw a stud into.
Does anyone know what I am looking for or another way to attach?
Thanks!

Best way will probably be to mount to the uniframe first on the sides and then try to snake a bolt into the three front hole mounts through the front crossmember.

^ Correct, what he said.
Mount the side brackets first, for the front there is room to get your hand in there to drop screws or bolts through, also a wrench. Be sure and use a washer too.
If you have the stock rubber 'splash guard' it makes it a bit more difficult, but still straightforward.

Thank you for the suggestion and I will give it a try. I am thinking of using stainless steel bolts n the crossmember.
I am going to remove my splash guard. I do not know how you can make both the guard and the skid fit at the same time. Besides mine is not in very good shape..
