Default Front End Noise!

Hey guys just purchased a 99 xj today. There is a popping noise coming from the front end when i turn in either direction. The p.o. said he had the ball joints checked and they were fine. He suspects it is some bad bushings somewhere. He also said in warmer weather i doesn't do it.. What do you guys think? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated thanks! BTW i have a 5 inch lift. Front: 3" springs w/ 2" spacer. Rear: 3" leafs w/ 2" blocks.

Okay did you tighten the bolt and replace the bushing, or just tighten? Also the noise seems to be coming from the drivers side...

have someone turn the jeep while you look and FEEL things under the keep. just make sure to chock the tires and throw the E-Brake. Rear to many accidental stories if you know what i mean

couple of things to check.

1 Shocks Mounted correctly to the top and bushings look good.

2 track bar bushing, is there any play replace the bushing.

3 ball joints can make this niose also.

Mine turned out to b the lower control arm bushings

lifted trucks do have this problem alot, are the shocks for a 3 inch kit? When u add the spacer into it it can cause this problem as well. Longer shocks.

Possible a u-joint? Is it when your moving and turn or just when your parked and turn the wheel over to either direction?

Thanks for the input guys. I'll check all those things. I'll also check and see if it does it while i'm not moving.

Control arm, track bar, shocks, and ball joints all look good. It still pops even when i'm not moving. I think i may have found the culprit though. There is a mounting plate where the track bar meets the frame, and when i had somebody turn the wheel, it started popping around there. It looked like it was sort of twisting the frame...

i had that same problem on my xj and it was a combination of my traction bar(centerlink) being bad and the bracket that holds it to the frame on the driver side of the vehicle was loose..

Ya i figured out that my track bar angle is to high so i'm getting a drop bracket hopefully that fixes it
