Yesterday I was wheelin with some friends and on my way back, half way through the trail, my front end or transfer case started to knock/ click and then I locked and my front tire had Been dragging. So I disengaged the 4wd and reengaged it and they un locked but when I gave it some gas it started making noises again. What wrong with i?

i had to deal with a jeep liberty this week that was doing the same damn thing, the transpher case had snaped a tooth on the chain internally. guess what I rebuild the thanspher case problem solved. Not saying thats what it is, but if it worked properly for a bit after taking it out of 4 wheel bad news seeing as then you go to turn you change the spin rate of the gears and this can change the drive shaft speed leading back to respin of the transhper case.

could be a broken spider or tooth in your ring gear, had it happen but I was going 75 so it only locked momentarily then blew everything in the driveline out
i had something of the same problem heard clicking and felt some binding in the front end 30 dollars in axle joints and the problem went away could be a bearing tho i thought the same but i did the axle joints and havent had a problem since
