They are press fit so you just hammer those studs thru the bearing flange, then press new ones in. Might have to have the wheel bearing off, cant remember

I don't know how I missed this, I guess I have never really checked my lug nuts, I sure will now.

Thanks for all of the helpful responses! I have learned a lot about my Jeep in the past 24 hours.

How the heck do these bolts come out?
You will have to unbolt the brake caliper and pull the rotor off then hammer out the studs. You can pick up replacement studs at most auto parts stores then hammer or press them back in from the back side of the flange. Re-mount rotor & caliper, bleed that brake line and you should be good to go. Might want to check your pads while you're in there, and replace if necessary.

I would have done this myself if I knew how to properly bleed the brake lines, so I just drove it two blocks with one lug nut on and they only want $90.

Thanks for the responses!

Umm you dont have to bleed the brakes, just unbolt the caliper from knuckle to move it out of the way

Oh, well now I know. Are they called bolts or studs? I have heard them referred to as both. Next time I shear one I will know how to replace them.

Studs. A little trick to help install them is to push them in from behind, then put a bunch of washers on the front, put a lug nut on it, and then tighten it down with an impact gun.

HTH!

Lug bolts are put in through the back of the rotors......I think. Haven't done them in a while.

Hmm, I would hope not! What would be keeping the rotor and wheel on? The calipers? The studs go into the hub, the rotor goes over the studs.

Bolts are used in different applications like BMW for instance, where you actually use a bolt and thread it into the hub after you place the wheel on. Your jeep has studs which go from the rear of the hub, thru the rotor and this is where your wheel goes with lug nuts from the outside
