Front axle u joints
I’m quite sure this has already been discussed but I’m not all that great at navigating this site.
I’ve replaced my front axle u joints about 3 or 4 years ago. They didn’t last as long as I expected. Put Moog’s in. Just replaced the right one a year and a half ago. I’ve been hearing a clicking noise at slow speeds and a grinding noise at high speeds with a wobble. While investigating I found the left one is shot.
Since replacement is time consuming and a major pain I want to replace them with one that will last longer than a few years. I replaced the wheel bearings on both sides at least once already.
any suggestions on a quality u joint that won’t fail after a few years?
thanks ahead

OEM u joints were Spicer and they do make some that are Greaseable , all company's make cheap one and then they have good one's , I would go to rockauto see what they have in the heavy duty section .

Is there somewhere I can cross reference the Moog part number I’ve used the last few times I’ve replaced them to make sure I order the correct spicer? I have confidence in your knowledge (above) but hate the hassle of getting the wrong part. I still have the box it came in. Moog u joint #365. Also I’ll try and post a pic of my axle pumpkin there are some #s legible on the cover.

Ok so I should have known this but it appears front axles on all or at least most Cherokees are Dana 30s. Now I’m good. Thanks for the help!

I got curios and dove a little deeper into this. The place I bought mine from gave me the same part number for your 93. Then researching some more I found a lot of conflicting information. Everything from bent axle ears to different part numbers. I found one parts house that said all Dana 30 axle shaft u joints are the same while they also list different spicer part numbers for the same years.
Do you have ABS? There are 2 different spicer numbers with a slightly different bearing cap width listed.

Update
I purchased the Spicer 5-260X. This did not fit my axle. Had the same problem as the photo above. Had to run to parts store and get Moog 365. Fit like a glove. I don’t know what to say other than now I have a spare Spicer I can’t do anything with.
The Jeep is my daily driver so I didn’t want to wait to figure out what Spicer was the equivalent.
Maybe you were correct after all about the 5-760X but I won’t find out hopefully anytime soon.
