Default front axle swap

the front axle i have on my rig now has a vacuum activated 4x4. and the TC does not have the option of "4 full time, and 4 part time" but no 4 high. i have another axle that is not vacuum. and i have the TC that goes with it, that does have the options i named above. if i swap the axle do i also need to swap the TC?

If you have full time and part time, those are both 4-hi. You want to run part time off road, and full time in wet/snowwy conditions.

The axle has really nothign to do with the t-case. Swap in a solid shaft in your disco axle, and cover up the shift fork with a metal plate and RTV sealer.

if you swap the axle shafts you will have to change seals to run a one piece axle heres a link its basically the same thing
http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/yjd3...jconvert-1.htm
i would just swap in the other axle if you have it already as long as its the same gear ratio and everything so you dont have to mess with the block off plate and seals since you have to pull the carrier to install the seal next to the pumpkin and gives you a chance to clean up and paint the new axle if you want and if its from a 92-93 and up it also will have bigger brakes i believe

if youre lucky there is still a metal tag held on by two of the bolts that hold the diff cover on the front of the axle if not you can tell by takin the cover off and count the teeth im too tired to remember exactly how a quick google search will explain the math and the carrier is the piece inside the diff that the ring gear is bolted to that housed the spider gears

rotate the front disc one full turn and count how many times the yoke/pinion rotates, if it rotates 3 and a half turns its 3.55 etc.
