Default Front Axle Question

Shouldn't a 1990 XJ have the Vacuum disconnect? What year did they get rid of the Vacuum disconnect. The reason I ask is I have had my 90 XJ for a few months but never really looked at it hard. Well I finally got the thing running and I put it up on the rack and noticed there is no vacuum motor on the front axle. This axle never had one. Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

I think they stopped in 91 but the only ones with it had a 231 t-case. Ones that came with the 242 full time case never had a CAD.

As far as I know, the vaccuum disconnect was on the XJ's until 92'. I know the upgrade to a non-disconnect style axel isnt much so it is possible you have one that has been upgraded or has been the recipent of a complete front axel swap. Either way, a front axel with out the vaccuum disconnect is better than one with it!

I have seen a couple of early 90's XJ's with no disconnect on the front axle...could it be possible that some of the 231 t-case models did not come with them?

Yea, I do have the 242 T-Case. I was just under the impression all 90's had the Vacuum Disc. Good to know. You learn something new every day. !!!
