Front axel seal

Default Front axel seal

How do i replace the front axel seal on my 96 cherokee. Do I need to go into where the gears are or from tire side

you need to go in from both ends. so you'll have to remove the carrier from the differential also the hubs and axle shafts. it sounds like alot but its really not that bad when you do it one step at a time. there are several write ups on it out there if you just google search "jeep cherokee axle seal replacement"

Thanks man was wondering if I should try it or get someone I dint Bo to much about them

i'm not going to say its an easy job, depending on how easily your hubs want to come out etc. it can be a real pain. but i do know its the kind of job the shops will charge you a good chunk of change for so if your looking to save a few bucks you can definitely do it yourself if you run into any problems feel free to PM me

jack up front axle
remove tire
remove brakes
remove hub
remove diff cover and drain
remove axle shaft
remove carrier
**make sure you keep the caps in the same orientation!!!!
pull out axle seal
clean axle tube
place in new axle seal and make sure it seats strait
bolt in carrier
torque cap bolts to spec
reinstall axle shaft
reinstal hub and torque bolts
reinstal brakes and wheel
