Exclamation front axel problem

hi i was checking the oil in my front diff (97 cherokee limited tubro diesel 2.5) when i took out the oil nut it had some gunk on the inside of the nut. on closer inspection it was like copper grease only silver? anyone know what causes this? i know metal flakes in oil is bad. could this be just wear or is it bad news? the jeep runs smooth with no noise from the diff!
help. worried. thanks.

I changed my fluid today. Pulled the cover off and the plug had the same kind of stuff on it. Like a silver anti seize. Thick. I wiped it off. Just assumed it was a magnetic plug and was pulling any metal particles to it. Didn't think much of it. I'm sure its fine. And if not someone will let us know....
