FREAKING WAKE UP CALL: preventative life saving check
Directly apply Rain-X concentrate (not the windshield washer solution) to all exterior glass every two or three months, buff well, religiously fill washer fluid reservoir with Rain-X only (never mix with the blue goo). Train yourself to look beyond the water on the windshield while driving in the rain - the distorted view is unnerving at first but you'll get used to it and will learn the limits. The only time you'll need to use your wipers will be to spritz the windshield (with more Rain-X) or to wipe away mist, mud and/or bug-guts. I'll check/replace my 12 year old wiper bushings anyway but, since I have used my wipers so infrequently (since new), I expect to find them to be good as new.

ya I live in oregon so I know how to drive in rain/snow/ whiteouts. I know what youre saying as far as train yourself to drive with rain on the windsheild, but thats not the point ot the thread, is rain X like car wax (u said buff on)

because of the 3-4 torx screws and the way they are set up, my guess is no they wouldnt be straight up interchangeable, maybe with mods, any one have a new jeep?
Yes, the base Rain-X application goes on like car wax (rub it in, wait until hazed/dry, buff and/or rinse off) but the product is not waxy - it's more like denatured alcohol with polymers inside (or something like that). I recognize the rigors of driving in the great north-west, kudos to you for your driving skills, and I know it was not the point of the original thread. My aim was to shed light on a detail that was left out of the original Rain-X mention. Pay no attention to the rabble and all that "karate kid" nonsense (as my master first taught me).

im doing this sunday, what would you use to grease? WD-40? or would you do something like control arm and sway arm heavy grease? im not going to grease near those nylong bushings, i dont want to help them get loose, but I am going to grease the other joints and the wiper motor

And i use that stuff for ANYTHING metal...batt terminals, as penetrating oil, undercoating, etc.
It comes out thick and sticks to the metal.
