Lithium-based grease, often referred to simply as "lithium grease", is a lubricant grease to which lithium compounds have been added, giving it higher performance and temperature tolerance. Some formulations also include PTFE and/or other substances, such as molybdenum compounds.
Lithium grease adheres well to metal, is non-corrosive, and may be used under heavy loads. It has a drip temperature of 190° to 220°C (350° to 400°F) and it resists moisture, so it is commonly used as lubricant in household products, such as electric garage doors.
Lithium grease is formed by the same kind of reaction that forms other greases. Lithium hydroxide or lithium carbonate is reacted with fatty acids, particularly 12-hydroxy stearic acid, to form salts that disperse into and viscosify oils to form stable gels.

Sounds like a good plan. I will be doing the same this weekend as I live in Portland also. I replaced the wiper control module last month and get better action than before but they still don't operate great. Maybe the grease and new bushing will improve things. I had never thought of it.

My wipers used to park themselves halfway up the windshield when you shut them off and jumped around like a meth head who just scored when they were running.
I got the busings from the HELP! section at advanced and it is like night and day! Mine were so worn the linkage fell apart as I took it out.

Going to be doing this soon as well. Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the arms from a newer(96ish to 00) are a direct swap to the older bodies? I would prefer the hook style over the pin style arms on my 89.
