When i turn the sterring wheel either way the slightest bit, the frame shifts side to side about an inch or so. looked underneath and noticed the track bar was shot, so i took it off to replace that but i dont think that would do it. Startin to think its the control arm bushings, they look worn not sure if that would would cause it or something else. whats your opinion? thanks

Whenever I've noticed that "frame shifting" feeling, it has always been from a loose trackbar mount. I'd say just replace one worn part at a time and see what fixes it. Make sure all your hardware is tight before you start throwing money at it.

i know people who take their track bar all together and their frame doesnt shift thats why i wasnt sure

Are you thinking about a track bar or a sway bar? the track bar is the only thing that keeps your frame from shifting laterally over the axle with the stock 5 link suspension. You can't remove it and have a driveable vehicle.

No frame. Trac bar worn could cause slop side to side cause thst is what keeps the axle centered under the vehicle. control arm bushings could cause the slop as well and ecspecially if everything is worn.

This is the trac bar.

I had frame shift. track bar joint was worn out and loose, steering box was loose front he frame and the balljoint on the steering pitman arm was worn out. i replaced all worn out parts. tightened up steering box and threw in a rustys track bar and all is well. no clunks and drives straight down the road. Have some one in the cab and move the steering wheel back and forth as you look under the front. pay very close attention to the joints. they may not look like they are moving but if they are moving the slightest bit then i would start there.

Maybe we are on to something with this trackbar removal....imagine the extra articulation you could get...
