Interested in your experience with Four Seasons A/C compressors.
Does anyone know why Rock Auto's shipping prices are so high? Same compressors on Amazon's vendors are almost 1/2 the shipping cost.

If you buy stuff that is "fulfilled" by Amazon you get very good or, in most cases I experience, *free* shipping. If you select the same stuff from one of their vendor/merchants it depends because the merchant fulfills the order, not amazon. Amazon is just a storefront for them, like eBay.
Here's the bottom line:
I eMailed Rock Auto and some dude Erik sent me this 6 paragraph description of their shipping policies....and I was like...
yeah I'm gonna read this. I went to Amazon.com and put the same *exact* parts in my cart as I had in my RockAuto cart:
Grand total for parts from Rock Auto: $349.82
Shipping charge $68.67 (shipping from several different vendors/locations)
Amazon.com:
Grand total for same exact parts: $317.51
Amazon's shipping charge $17.42 (shipping from two vendors/locations)
So, guess where I'm shopping?

Yes, Rock Auto can be really high on shipping sometimes.
However, they can sometimes be insanely low on items. I got a replacement grill for my '98 for $6.70! I couldn't have gotten a scratched and pitted one at the JY for that much.
In regard to your questions about 4 Seasons...
I have a rebuilt 4 Season from Rock Auto in mine. It's been in there since March, and has seen daily use since Mid April. It's seen very heavy use since the beginning of May when we started getting in the high 80's, to 100+ for the last several weeks. Works great! Ice cold.

Appreciate the input Mac, $6.70 for a grill!? That is definitely
. I just like fast & simple, Amazon made it happen. I might try Rock again but this was my first time trying them.
Did you replace all the stuff Four Seasons requires for warranty reimbursement? Like the accumulator/drier, orifice/liquid line tube? What else did you replace besides just he compressor?
Did you flush the system?

I replaced the accumulator, orifice tube, and condenser coils, as well as a new seal kit for everything. In addition to the compressor being shot, the condenser had a hole in it, so I figured while I was in there...
Then I took it to a shop, had it vacuumed down and filled. The parts ran me about $385-$400, and the vacuum and fill was $75. Having the receipt for the parts and from the shop for a proper evacuation and charge helps support the warranty conditions.
I live in Texas. Our autumn and spring are about 3 weeks long each. Our winter is about a month. We sometimes hit the 80's in January, I spent one Christmas Eve outside in shorts and a t-shirt, and it's just ********-melting hot about 8 months out of the year.
I don't scrimp on the AC repairs!
