while me and my dad were installing my fog lights on the bumper today we found a clip hangning from under that dash (glovebox side) and it was labeled left speaker. thing is there are speakers in the the door already so what could this clip be for? was there an option for extra speakers in the front? and also why is it on the right side (drivers perspective) and its labeled left speaker?

Have you owned your XJ since it came off the showroom?

Could have been from the previous owner.

But it could have been from an after market deck the PO took out.

 

im not sure of i would test it to see if they are hooked up

 

My 88 has the same wires. There are mounts for 4" speakers in the panel below the steering column and the glove box. I used that spot for speakers because my doors will be removable soon.

 

alright sweet. i will look for the hook up to the other side and have really nice sound system

 

On my 96, there are slotted holes for what looks like speakers, but there arent any in the front of mine. It only makes sense that speakers go in there. My rear hatch has the same slotted factory speaker but there arent any speakers back there.

 

As far as I know, speakers were offered there. I've never seen them myself, but from looking over various wiring diagrams for the audio system some Jeeps could have been equipped with them.

 

I have the speakers in my laredo. Mounted under the dash.

 

My 92 Laredo had factory 2in. tweeters in the underdash.

 

it is a factory opntion... you can put some speakers in there...

 

i just gotta see if i can find the hook up on the other side. theres also another thing hanging right next to the speaker hoop up. any ideas what that could be? it isnt labeled. i will try to get a pic tomorrow
