Default Found some rust

So I took off my rear bumper endcaps today to bedline them and i found a bunch of rust on the metal behind it. How should i go about repairing this? Is it possible to remove the bracket then put if back on?

Pics

Driver side is fine

But the passenger side is pretty bad...

i have the same rust problem. anyother time i have fixed rust i just cut out the bad spots and weld in new pieces. i think thats what im gonna do on mine. on the spots that arent bad u can just wire brush most of the rust off and put some of that rust converter stuff on and then paint over it

Drill out the rivets, clean/cutout/replace whatever needs it. Prime/paint/lift. In that order! Good luck.

Drill them out. Mask off area and have it media blasted. Prime and paint. Reinstall brackets with rivets. Done.

If im not mistaken you can use bolts, something with a small head if you can get to the back side, or just borrow a rivet gun and rivet it back on. Stainless is a good way to go.

IF it is just surface rust. Clean the area good (wire brush or what ever you can fit in there) and treat with some Rust converter then repaint with a rustoleum paint and you will be fine just keep and EYE on it!

cut em out and weld in nice pieces of steel to seal out the water coming from the inside then just paint it gloss white underneath or black or pink lol

Rust converter turns the rust into a nice black primer. Make sure it is not deep down rust just surface rust and the converter will work great! Once it is treated spray some rustoleom over it or do what i did RHINOLINE it

Your rust doesn't look too bad. Mostly surface as far as I can see in the pics. I agree with cleaning it up and using a rust converter. Most of what you have will be covered by the reinstall of your bumper, so it will not show.

well i used a grinder to take off the head of the rivits. then used a grinder and took off all the paint found that there were holes in the pannel so my teacher welded them closed. Now i just have to grind down the welds then paint it. pics later

K got the pics and i pulled the bracket off the drivers side as well and found some surface rust. so i grinded that down and its primed now. I also am going to fill the holes for the brackets and then bedline that area and my rockers.
