A school friend seen me putting gas in my jeep this morning and asked me if I needed any parts. I said "what ya got". To make a long story short I followed him to his house and this is what I found. 87 2 dr 4.0 auto, D44 rear, two front and one rear factory tow hook. It's got a hitch but kinda cheesy looking that goes up and under the gas tank. It also looks like a factory sun visor, If it isn't It still looks good. I tryed to fiquer out the tag on the dana 30 diff but couldn't make any sense out of it. It runs good with very little rust, it's forest green and the price tag is 600.00. Can anyone tell me how I can tell what gear is in it without pulling the cover? Thanks

 

Jack it up, spin the tires all the way around once and see how much the pinion spins. 3.5 times is 3.55 etc.

I did some more research on the jeep and went back up and got some numbers. It's a custom with no trim package, just a cherekee. the only option is air conditioning and delay wipers. It's definatly a 410 d44 with a factory LSD. He has another 2 door with the a custom package,factory skids and front tow hooks with a dana 35 and a 3 inch lift.It's got door problems though and cancer. both for $1000. So I'm gonna buy them both and use the white one with the lift for part's. 3 xj's man I got it bad...........
