The spring perches are underneath the axle on the explorer 8.8. You need to weld new xj perches to the top. Search around a little there is tons of good write-ups on 8.8's in xj's.

dont have a stock 8.8 in front of me. but if i remember someone in our club tried to reuse the perches and found out that they were to narrow. I would buy some new ones and burn them on!

and about your. I did nothing to mines. bolted on new soft line to the hard lines on the axle and bled the system and off i went.

ya you can cut the perches off the 8.25. no the 8.8 uses a flange instead of a yoke at the diff pinion, so you'll need a flange to u-joint adapter. Most of the disc brake 8.8's I've runinto or read of use a 1330 u-joint while some (or all?) drum brake 8.8'suse 1310 u-joints. Here are the Spicer adapter part numbers for your reference: 1310 yoke - #2-2-1379; 1330 yoke - #2-2-1369.

I used these guys to get all the brackets I needed for my 8.8 swap

http://www.mountainoffroad.com/_e/de...nstall_Kit.htm

To cut the perches off of your 8.25 and have them be reusable is not likley, plus the tube on and 8.8 is a bigger diameter than a 8.25 so they will need to be modified to fit to the new tube.

Run the brake lines right off of the splitter block at the axle just like on the 8.25. If you are going disk in the rear I used 66 mustang front rubber lines to run to my rear calapers, and have hard lines between there and the splitter block.

ok so i decided not to i think its pointless all the accessories plus the diff make it a waste of time. i went and got my spiders at the reckers for 40$ and put them in. ill just buy a eaton limited slip carrier and all and put that in. that way its not all welded up and it just as tuff.

a limited slip is not as tough as it welded. you lift a tire off the ground with a lsd and it acts like a open diff. eaton lsd is not worth the $$ if you are going to wheel it

I haven't used an Aussie, but have had lock-rites in a dana 35 and currently in an 8.8. Both have been trouble free and easy to install.....
