what vehicles have these in the junkyard and what gears do they normally come with???

From what I hear most Ford Explorers have them..... not sure what other fords tho

Mustangs have them too, but you don't want those, not as strong.

ford explorer and ranger. you can find an explorer with an lsd already in it and disc brakes if your lucky. gear ratios range from like 3.02 to 4.11 so i'm told. IF you find a 4.11 lsd disc brake for under $500 give a brother a call lol

be careful with the rangers, some had a 7.5. I think most people use a 96+ explorer 8.8 when they swap.

most gear ratios for them are 3.55 or 3.73

They are still 8.8...Just the Mustang has 28 spline stock Vs. the 31 the Exploder has.......otherwise ring gears are the same.

they use 4.10's...........

look in the write up section. If it says d2 on the door take under axle it is the 4.10s with limited slip

there should be a tag bolted to the cover,for example it could say 3 55, or 3L55 meaning the ratio is a 3.55 and that l means limited slip

do a search on carpart.com ..... i bought 2 4.10/LSD on there for under $250ea.

Late 90s explorers are the ones to try and find...disk brakes and 31 spline.

it is way stronger. Hoe strong do you need? 8.25 can hang with locked and 33s. if you ever want to run bigger tire then yeah you might want to look into it
