Default Fog lights

I have a 1996 Cherokee without fog lights. I am adding two to my front bumper. Has anyone done this? I can not get to the bolts on the inside of the bumper! Any suggestions?

You need to take the bumper off by the two brackets from underneath.

which two brackets do you need to take off? I have looked it over several times and cannot decide which ones need to come off.

There are two brackets that mount the bumper to the unibody. These brackets are held on with three bolts each which are pretty easy to get to. I believe they take a 15mm wrench or socket. The bumper should come right off.

I see the brackets and bolts but the sides of the bumper are in the way. To get to those bolts I need to take them off. It looks like you need to take the entire light assemblies out just to get the the bumper brackets. Is this true? Is there an easier way?

Thanks.

They should be easy to reach just by coming from the bottom up. Mine is a 96 sport too and I had no trouble. Maybe take some pics of the issue and post them up. Then we can work it out.

Ok. The bolts in the picture are not the right ones.
What you want to do is lay down under the front of the jeep and look up behind the bumper. You will see two brackets extending from the bumper and bolting onto the unibody frame rails. The bolts you are looking for attach these brackets to the outsides of the unibody frame rails. There should be three bolts on each bracket and should take a 15mm wrench/socket to remove.

P.S. the bolts you need to remove are not on the bumper itself but rather are on the frame rails.

Hope this helps.
