Post Flywheel/clutch knock

I have a '95 5spd and there's a significant knock/rattle at idle coming from (what i've pinpointed from listening) behind the bellhousing. The knock is still somewhat there when it's in gear, although road and engine noise mostly drown it out or it just disappears. Revving it at idle also quiets the rattle a bit.

I've been searching around and see flexplate cracks are common, so I figure it's pretty similar, so I'm about to order a new clutch kit to solve the issue.

However, since it rattles at idle, the clutch and tranny aren't engaged and only the flywheel is rotating - therefore the flywheel is what's making the rattling sound?

Just wondering if this reasoning makes sense, and if I should order a new flywheel w/ the clutch kit.

Thanks

Tighten your flywheel to flex plate bolts!! I just went through that (only to my torque converter) I decided to take the engine apart then found out it was those stupid four bolts. Take off bellhousing cover tighten the visible bolt to 60ish ft lbs, crank over tighten next bolt etc...
