Default fluid leaking from drum brake

I just bought this 96 2 door se 2.5 ltr. I really would like to fix this thing up. I bought it from a kid who nearly destroyed it, needless to say I don't know much about this stuff I'm just getting in to it. I've got brake fluid coming out of the rear drum on the passenger side and it looks like its coming through the seam below where the line goes in. What do you think this means? Anything will help thanks

It is probally your wheel cylinder leaking, they sell rebuild kits for them.

just buy a new one. rebuilding is ok, works, and can be cheaper. but with a jeep things are pretty cheap already. new is better IMO

Install a new cylinder and flush the brake fluid (bleed really good).

that's the biggest thing I love about Jeeps...parts are so much more affordable than my BMW.

I had a problem on one side, so I took it to the shop and had them replace EVERYTHING on both side.

Cylinders
Drums
Shoes
Hardware
Brake lines

Would have done it myself, but it was cold and snowing and I work in the driveway!

Was worth it though, I had them go over the entire front end while it was there. I figured if anything was wrong they would find it. No problems there!

I've started a restoration project on a 96 XJ SE, two door, 4.0, 5 Speed.
I am finding it not all that expensive to replace things and even keep a supply of some parts on hand.

its not a bad time to do brakes. they do have to come off. and will be contaminated with brake fluid.

Replace the wheel cylinders as a pair. Rebuilding them is dicey anymore, more cost effective to replace with new cylinders.
