Default Fluid leak into passenger compartment

I've had my 97 jeep Cherokee sport for 5 years or so and for several years now I have noticed a fluid leak into my passenger side front floorboard. I was afraid it was anti-freeze and I regularly checked the antifreeze levels to make sure but never noticed a significant decline. There is a significant amount of fluid leaking into the carpet, enough for the carpet to mildew severely and I actually had to cut it out. Some have suggested that it is a heater core leak mad some have said that it could be a drainage problem from the exterior of the car. Any help?

Does it smell like coolant, If so it would be the heater core. If not I would have to agree with EZEARL on the clogged ac drain.

it is most likely just water......it comes from a multitude of places. It is going to have to be a search to find the issue. Mine is different than most....

If it's not fogging the windshield and smelling, probably not the heater core. Then if it gets wet when it's not raining it's not the air duct from the cowling leaking rain. That would pretty much leave the AC drain clogged. The drain comes out the firewall roughly below the heater hoses and can be blasted with compressed air.

If it's just after/during rain, there are more places than just >cowling leak<

There's a couple of drain holes under the cowl. If they get clogged, it can leak water into the cab.

What they said. For some reason, I always taste the misc fluids that leak from my jeep.(Not in large quantities of course) it's how I found out my radiator had a small leak dripping down onto my tow hook lol
But for the floor pan question, I have a leak there too. Bad vent window seal. It drips down the door pannel to the floor board. Think about pulling your carpet to check for rust is you live in the rust belt
