I live in Michigan. Figuring that I pretty much have to change my exhaust pipes and muffler every 2 to 3 years, I did some checking into the knockoffs made by the various muffler installation places.

I compared prices, labor costs, and reported satisfaction amongst them.

I went with the Midas Flomaster knock-off... I don't even think it has an official name... and am happy as can be.

It sounds good, has lasted through one winter already, and being installed by them even, saved me about 70$.

(muffler installation without the proper tools or a lift can suck)

I'll also say, Midas did a decent job installing it with no rattles or anything.

If you wonder how good it is (any muffler you are looking at) ask the younger guys who are actually doing the installation at the shop what they would do. They are the ones who said yeah, for the price go with the knock-off.

Good-luck.

I used to have a 40 series on mine and it droned inside the interior pretty bad. I dont have a tailpipe though. Just a turn down in front of the axle. Changed it over to a Cherry Bomb Turbo when I put my new high flow cat on and its alot better. Still has a healty sound too, about as good as a I6 can sound.

Here's a link to some flowmasters and there not to loud or to low they sound great when you press the accelerater. If the link don't work you should search on youtube for this video exactly how I spell it "90 Jeep Cherokee with Duel Flowmaster.
