My muffler mounting tab bent so my muffler was almost touching my floorboard. Didn't realize it till I was headed up the mountain for a weekend of wheeling and my buddy on the rear passenger side said he saw smoke. Next thing I knew the carpet was on fire. Half of our water provisions went to put it out. Not a good way to find out your fire extinguisher doesn't work.

Check for exhaust leaks and/or clogged cat. Both would bring up the temp.

X2, that's a good sign you have a restriction. Does it get hot on the highway?

I had the same problem with the floor getting hot. So this is what I did; I went to home depot, went to the furnace aisle and grabbed 8inch duct pieces at 2 feet long. I cut them in half long ways so I would have 2 pieces at 2 feet each. I then drilled holes through the floor used long bolts, a spacer between the floor and the new shield and then bolted them together. Then trimmed away at the new shield with tin shears so there would be no rattling. It only took like an hour or so to do all this and after all said and done the heat on the inside of the cab went drastically down and the floor doesnt get extremely hot anymore. If any one wants pics i can crawl under there and send some. I hope this makes sense.

That is a good idea! I may use that idea in a few places.

Yeah it's worked great for me. The only problem is trying to make a heat shield around the muffler. I'm still working on that. My first attempt is pretty ****ty.

Just remember if you use my idea make sure you use a spacer between the floor and the shield. Air needs to get between the floor and the shield in order to cool it properly.

Now if any one has any idea how to cool the trans tunnel that would be great. I was thinking something along the lines of using that heat shield exhaust wrap stuff and drilling it to the sides using self taping screws. Any ideas?

I would make air dams or scoops that directed airflow to the trans tunnel but didn't hang any lower than the trans itself. Maybe you could route an air tube from the front fascia to the transmission...
