Default flat leaf springs-good or bad?

i have a 95 xj on a rancho three inch lift. it came with an add a leaf but it didnt do much. i had to get a two inch shackle for the rear to get it level. is it common for the leaf springs to be flat? i was reading older post and it sounds like they come out of the factory flat. i dont really like the way it looks although there is no negative bend, but it is still flat. i just dont really trust it, i would trust it alot more if it had that solid arc. is the shackle i have good enough or should i replace all the leaf springs. whats the advantages and disadvantages of having arc or flat leaf springs while off road?
thanks for the responses

I would replace the whole spring pack, addaleafs ride real ruff, the shackle will give you the extra lift,I would just replace the springs.

the longer and flatter that leaf springs are, the better they will perform.

as long as you have your bumpstops lengthened correctly. you want to avoid having your leafs go to a negative arch.

more lift.

say if you wanted 5.5" of lift. most people will get 3.5" lift leafs, then add 2" lift shackles. you still get the lift, but it will perform better because the leafs have less of an arch compared to a full 5.5" lift leaf pack.

My leaf springs are shot, they curve down like a sad face, haha. Eventually I'm gonna pull some JY leafs because the top of the tire is level with the fender flair. They are saggy.

yea the more arched your leafs are they typically have a rougher ride. but sometimes you have to make sacrifices
