Default Fixing my g/f's '00 Cherokee

My g/f has a '00 Cherokee that wouldn't start the other day (almost dead battery). Her dad then jumped it, it started but can't idle. If we push it to higher rpm's it runs, but the moment you let off the gas it dies as it drops to idle rpms.

It needs a new battery for sure. Her dad thinks it's a fuel injector issue or spark plugs... it sounds like an alternator issue to me, but any suggestions from Jeep pros out there?

Thanks all.

I'm no pro but change the battery, see what happens, then give it a tune up if needed. You can take it to autozone or whatever is in your area and they will test the alternator for free.

X2 alternator issue. It's responsible for Returning power back to battery and of that happens, battery dies, and rig will stall out.

Do you know how long it's been dead for? Could be the TPS (throttle positioning sensor). I believe that was one thingthat was recommended to me when I had a similar situation. Good luck.

Heres the deal, if the battery went almost compeletely dead, it will screw the idle up till the IAC (idle air control) resets, if it looses battery voltage, it could take a few days to totally reset, replace the battery and drive it. The proper reset procedure is to replace batt. Start vehical, and idle it in drive for 5 min with brake on.
