Default Fixing door hinge

A few months ago I bought a 94 Cherokee Sport, which I already love dearly. However, it has the typical hinge failure on the driver's side. The previous owner welded the hell out of it and it is holding up just fine. The problem is that the door droops when it is open. It looks like the door side of the hinge is cracked. I'm not sure how to approach this.

This is not my photo. My crack is just to the door side of the hinge pin on the top part of the hinge.

My first thought is to weld the hinge back together, but it is so thick that I doubt I can get a good bond between the weld and the two halves.

I aslo thought about replacing the whole hinge, but I couldn't find a reasonable price.

I don't want the hinge to crack completely through, and its a pita to lift the door up every time I close it. Any suggestions?

Reason they do this is hinge contacts upon it self b4 door stricker comes to its farthest stopping point. Welding it back is only cure. After that I cut my hinge top and bottom so door stops with stricker b4 hinge contacts upon it self and pulling it off again....

I googled a bit but everything came up with the hinge separating from the body, which is not my problem at all.

I'll probably just end up taking off the door-side half of the hinge and welding it, but to do that I'd have to completely remove the door lest I leave it hanging dangerously on one hinge. I'm not looking forward to that, but its all part of the fun, right?

It makes sense to cut off that little tab as well. The check arm should be strong enough to hold the door back without tearing anything else apart.

No need to remove door just need wire feed welder it fits in gap nicely. Use floor jack to lift back into place and weld. Mine been fine for 10 years they way I fixed it.
