Default FIX: key fob, peanut key fob not working....

I never knew the overhead console/map light unit had the remote key fob receiver circuitry in it. I searched the forum but had to read deep into a couple of threads before I found the answer, so I thought I would post this bit of info for others to easily find.

I had removed my overhead unit to repair the saggy headliner, but broke one of the mounts during the removal process. The keyfob quit working at the same time but I'm a little slow and didn't make the connection. I replaced the fob batteries, but no luck. My overhead console is sitting on my workbench, waiting for me to make a trip to the junkyard. I think I'll try a little epoxy as a temp fix and get the fob working again.

Sounds like you might've just damaged the circuit. I doubt epoxy would fix anything.

Nah, I need to epoxy the plastic mounting post that I broke off, or maybe double-sided tape, but anyway the overehead assy will not stay up in its place....not an electrical problem. The main point is that I didn't know the key fob receiver was in the overhead console, that bit of info is not clearly stated anywhere that I can find.

My son said I broke the "gozinta", I said what the heck is a gozinta? He said "it's the little thing that gozinta the slot"
