Default First time owner Fuel guage not reading.

Hi guys first time posting here. Just bought my 1986 xj today but the gas guage doesn't work just reads full no matter what. Is it the cluster? Or should I replace the sending unit and float? Also I can't seem to find the right parts so if you guys could point me in the right direction that would be awesome

Do you have a multimeter?

Easily tested with one.

Here are the ohms values for the fuel tank sending unit.

Yes I do and thank you. I will check that when I have the time. If it needs and float where can I get one?

Great.

If the float was bad, it would read empty.

What if it's unplugged?

Yes. It's a pre-made piece. Parts store should sell it.

Ok so update everything is plugged in. Looked under the dash at the fuse box and someone filled it with hot glue? All the fuses are ruined and corroded. Head lights don't work wipers barley work, turn signals don't work. So I'm thinking that is killing everything. Anyone know where to get one? If I tap the cluster the gas guage goes crazy up and down

I have a good fusebox.
