Drove a little over 1/2 tank as Daily driver the last few days using only 4th as max. Approx 1/2 city 1/2 highway; 17.7 MPG (168 miles on 9.5 gal)

Its actually higher that that since my spedo gear is for 28.5 tires instead of the 31 I'm actually using.

So here's the two sets of numbers I have followed by a tech question for you all

5th gear all highway = 18-19 mpg
4th gear 1/2 & 1/2 = 17.7 mpg

I bet if i take a long trip and stay in 4th that will easily pass 18-19 mpg.
QUESTION: will it hurt my transmission to always use 4th gear as final gear? Like, if I do it forever

Won't hurt it a bit, as long as it's full of lube. JMO

 

You know you should ask 5-90 about that.
he knows all about that, i had a good discussion with him about this.
He told me nothing will happen to the tranny.
