And welcome sir! To the wunnerful world o' JEEPIN!

reading your post,,something to consider when you say the Jeep was "pulling to the left"

if that is occuring during braking, thats a sign of the brake rotor starting to be too worn or the braking system is showing its age (ie new rotors pads caliper rebuild etc).

now, if its pulling while you are driving, other than possibly hub bearing it may be a simple matter of the tires being balance properly.

Yeah, I would freshen the U-joints (as us Yanks) call'em....

and maybe dig into the pocket for that cash and get new bearings.

again, this is just MY suggestion,, your mileage may vary! ()

best of luck sir! and welcome!

Exactly what I'm hoping he will do vs swapping another axle!
New brakes if needed, new TREs, new ujoints & hubs and be good for as long as you have the jeep lol.

Congrats and Welcome!

Two years we bought a 95 Cherokee just to " get through the winter ".

Now we own three Cherokees ( '95, '96, '01 ) and one Grand Cherokee ( '98 )

They are fun to drive, somewhat easy to maintain and all three are 4.0 I6 motors.

Thanks Captain... Yeah I preffer the terms used by those over the pond anyway hehe....
Seriously though, yeah I`ll need to rethink my plan for this...In regards to the braking issue, it seems to be happening under braking in 4Wd ONLY, and braking in rwd woks fine.... It feels like it brakes too early on the left, or too late on the right.... lol I feel like Im opening a can of worms, theres a few here , I think a few diffrent things are wrong most likely.

First thing I suppose would be to get it properly jacked up vids taken and identify the issues

I definately have play in U-Jonts, so those are defo to be done. Those may or may not relate to the braking issue, but certainly the clunky noise resulting from the play I hope would..

I wonder then, does a Jeep XJ brake differently on the FRONTwheels when in 4WD to when its RWD? Im just wondering why this particular problem doesnt seem to happen when the front wheels are only moving passively??ie braking when in rwd in steady and smooth...

The brake disks are new, and pads are new, dont know about the callipers though...well I do I spose, theyre not I gues lol... Noted and ill mention it to mechanic.

Best guess for me is go back out and try it again..see if it happens again..could of been a fluke!
How my jeep when stock jerked right..I have a blown shock. that side would compress when I would brake and it would pull everytime! Lifted my jeep 3" new shocks all around problem gone lol.
Then again only in 4x4 is weird..makes me thing something in the front diff caused it! Which is why we need pics, more info of symptoms! And pull your diff cover..worst that can happen is you buy new fluid & silicon to seal it back up lol. That was you can see if somethings wrong internally!

Hi guys... Im affraid I still have not got round to properly Jacking up the rig, and getting in about it with a camera.

I only have a small garage, and its difficult or nearly impossible to safely do it inside...outside well, its freezing and wet/ snowing... First dry day and I will get it done...

Thanks again for all your welcomes and help so far, will report back soon.
