Hi,
I have an 89 cherokee limited 4.0 and it has always ran good since I traded my el camino for it around 6 months ago.
Normally, it would start, rpm`s would go up to about 2g for a second or two, then idle back down to around 700rpm`s like always.
But the other day, it decided to just die immediatly after starting and going through it`s seemingly normal starting rotuine.
Then it will finally go, be running just fine, then half-way down the street it would just die, then, for 3-5 tries it would go through that starting, dieing procedure and finally start again, but now the rpm`s rev up to 3g and will NOT come back down. I`m at a completete loss, along with anybody I`ve tried asking. So, it either starts, then dies, starts and runs good for a spell, or starts and idles up to 3g (or more).
If anybody had any things I could try, well, I would really appreciate it, I miss driving my jeep.

Check out your TPS, make sure it is not sticking and or needing to be replaced.

TPS = Throttle position sensor.
