That's what I'm thinking, bad bearing. When i yank the ujoints and if it still does it, I am going to swap the diff out.

you could have a bad slip yolk and its jumping teeth, I've never seen it on a standard yolk that goes into a tranny, but I have seen several external slip yolks bad, but never bad enough to actually jump teeth.

I have the same issue on mine. I know Chevy has a "special" grease they use to fix the noise the slip yoke splines make as they engage. My boot is torn on my driveshaft and I can see a lack of lube in there as well as when I had it out for a different issue. Might look there.

Jumping teeth?? As in the pinion is driving over the ring?? If that's accurate, whoever you paid to set the lash on the gears robbed you.

If you put the trans in neutral and set the e-brake, how much can you turn the drive shaft from sided to side before it stops? (In other words, how much play is in the rear end?)

Evil is right, you may have been robbed.
If you dont get any play from the rear diff see if the slop is in the slip yoke of the transfer case. I belive your driveshaft slides in and out of your case on that year model.
Get the rear off the ground with the trans in gear and give the driveshaft a turn, see if that points it out.
If thats whats jumping teeth, I would think t-case rebuild/swap or driveshaft time.

Unhappy

There is about a 1/4 inch of play when the jeeps on the ground. Not much play. So tranfercase swap? I have a spare laying around.
