Default A few questions from a noob.

Had a few questions that I was hoping that I could get a few tips on for my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic that I just purchased.

1. Fog lights don't work and the switch won't light up when turned to the on position. Fuse or switch problem?

2. The front passenger and rear passenger windows won't work, is the window lockout switch broke?

3. There is a knocking noise coming from the front of the vehicle when turning at slow speeds when taking off (5mph)

4. I would like to replace the almost bald 235/75-15 tires that are on the vehicle right now with more of a stock or slightly bigger then stock tire, any suggestions on what SIZE tire that would be?

Thanks for all your help, I look forward to learning a lot about my new vehicle here!

My opinions:
1. Check the fuse;
2. Read this to "fix" your window problem.>>->Jeep Cherokee Forum - View Single Post - Window-lock out bypass (solves the issues of window switches not working)
3. Check the u-joints at the ends of your front axles near the wheels.
4" Check in the door-jamb for a sticker that gives the stock size tire for your Jeep.

Thanks for the help everyone! I will probably wait a few more years for the windows fix if that's what has to be done because I have 3 kids under the age of 5. I will check the fuse and clean the switch for the fog lamps. Then have my front U-Joints checked at my next oil change. As for the tires..... what size does everyone else run for a tire??? Just curious so I had some ideas, like I said earlier, I want a size slightly larger then stock so it still looks aggressive but not too big since I won't be off-roading much with it. That's what my Honda Rubicon is for!

I will post an update, thanks again for everyone's help!

My opinions

1.I would start with checking the fuse

2.Had the same problem and with mine it was the window lock switch and all u have to do is bypass the switch.

3.Front u joint

4.No idea i ran 30" all terrains stock

Hope this helps and good luck

alot of switches wont light up when turned on if they are not grounded properly. check the ground to the switch, alot of lights and switches and horns need to have a good ground in order to work. if the fuses are ok then i suggest checking the ground connection.

Also the harness for the windows runs under the carpet in the drivers area, and there's a connector under there and it can become corroded. Clean it as it may be your problem. Then your lock-out switch will still work.

There isn't a fuse for the fog lamps, at least according to the manual. I will try to clean the switch up for that tomorrow. I will check the connections under the carpet ol"blue to see if that will work after I clean them.
