first- what year grand cherokee tie rod fits our cherokees?
second- how much play should tie rod/ drag link ends have?

Any ZJ (93-98) Grand Cherokee.
TREs should have no "play" in them, they are a ball joint and as such they should move around on the axis of the ball, but if there is any appreciable clunking, or moving of the joint in the housing, it's shot.
