I would end up setting the Jeep on fire using this method.

Somehow I feel like that wouldn't be a good thing. Disclaimer:I claim no responsibility and immunity from flaming if you burn your own jeep to the ground using my suggested methods

i tryed that back to black stuff and i hated it so i painted them. But being me i forgot to sand them a little and paint is rubbing off so this time i am taking off what plastic i can like end caps, etc. and sanding them and painting them with krylon fusion satin black. so while i was going to do that i was wondering if i should paint my fender flares because they are painted to match the jeep which is white but i dont know how it would turn out any pics.

Default fender flare & trim painting

You ask about, painting your flares black, you mention that they are currently color keyed white like the rest of jeep.
Your color choice is a matter of personal taste. However I will tell you that I have sold several jeeps and the white on white, (grill, bumpers, trim ect), generated an unusually high amount of interest, especially with gals.
also brought a great price in a short time on market.
as far as painting flares, and trim, as well as touch up on black, and white Jeeps, the paint used is basic black & white, flat or gloss depending on application, Rust-oleum lawn furniture paint works well and, was made for exposure & plastic. looks good and is inexpensive.
If photo shows the rt ft fender flare was black I refinshed and attached to jeep. http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/a...ite/1-97WH.jpg
as it did not have a flare when I bought it.
Good luck Steve

I started taking the fender flares off last night and couldn't find my 10mm socket. I started using a box wrench and snapped a bolt. the bolts are pretty long and didn't want to go any farther without a socket.

Question is, are the bolts easy to replace? I have not removed the flares yet and have no idea how they are held on.

Thanks

The flares are very easy to remove. There is one bolt (screw) on the underside of the flare, holding it to the body. After removing this, upward pressure will get the clips to release and the flare will come right off. Mine came off while wheelin, that is how I know this, as I just snapped it back on, and used a bigger washer to prevent the bottom bolt (screw) from popping thru the hole again.
The mounting plate, is another issue altogether to remove as most have already said.

if you have black plastic flares then pick up some BUMPER PAINT. it is AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!! just lightly sand all of your black plastic and spray this stuff on. it doesn't really add a layer of paint..it just saturates the plastic and darkens it up a bunch and makes it look better than new! and it drys in like 4 min!!!!
