So I am working on converting my 1996 XJ to look like a 97 on the exterior and I had some questions about Fender Flare retainers (from this point forward referred to only as FFR).
I've been searching for a replacement set through all the usual channels, Quadratec eBay local junkyard Etc. What I have found is that nobody seems to carry complete front and Rears.
According to the placement through both Quadratec and eBay sellers, there are only two FFR part numbers for the rear half of the front fenders:
Driver side front-rear part number ending in -75AC
Passenger side front- rear part number ending in -74AC
And the FFR in the rear are only the front halfs:
Driver side rear-front part number ending in -79AD
Passenger side rear-front part number ending in -78AD
So my question is are all these parts suppliers just idiots? Because it seems like I just need two sets of each in order to have one front and one rear per fender. They made it super confusing doing the designations as driver side front rear fender flare when all these parts look absolutely identical.
I've seen sets before. Can't remember if it was on Amazon or EBay. They may have been by Omix or Crown. I will be looking for them again in the near future. Let me know if you do find a set and I'll do the same.
I can't really help with your question, but what exactly is needed to make the old body style look like the new? The flares are different?
My XJ is a bit of a hodge-podge. I have 97-01 front end and fender flares, Beijing Jeep XJ Taillights, and soon pre-1990 XJ Vent windows. I want it to look semi-factory in the end, but not with those god-awful tacky oversize flares. I'm never going bigger than 31's on this XJ so I dont need to have monstrous bushwacker flares.
